CONGRESSIONAL FUNDING FOR WELLNESS EXCEEDS DEFENSE SPENDING  In a bold move, Congress allocated funding that surpasses that of the defense budget for wellness programs throughout the country.  The programs will be based on the fully integrated health care model created and used in Congress for Members, employees and their families.  The model is rooted in a belief that the human body has an innate ability to heal itself.  Doctors of naturopathic, chiropractic, osteopathic and conventional medicine work side by side with acupuncturists, massage therapists and a host of other practitioners to maintain and restore each individual’s state of being to his/her optimal level.  Meditation rooms, yoga classes and transformative practice sessions are offered free to all.  The program will be implemented in every public health facility in year one, and then expanded further to school districts across the country.  It is believed that the savings achieved by implementing the program nationwide will be more than enough to fund similar programs in all third world countries.

I share my “Merlin story” with you to demonstrate what I believe possible and to let you know what gets me up in the morning!  What we achieve in 10 years will in large part be dependent on our commitment to a vision of our future as a profession – and as an Association.  And I promise you that I will carry that vision every day in service to you for the sake of all of our children.
